Near:Far

NEAR:FAR explores the relationship between proximity and connection in urban life. Inspired by the golden hour’s light and shadow on a city façade, this work represents the transition as day turns to night. The illuminated yellow windows symbolize the warmth of rooms where life is unfolding, while the cool blue windows signify spaces awaiting their inhabitants.

In the modern landscape, relationships are complex: Sometimes we share more with our neighbors than our own family. Other times, we live beside someone for years without ever knowing their name. NEAR:FAR uses the architecture of a building as a metaphor for these connections, highlighting the unseen bonds between those who share physical space.

NEAR:FAR invites participation beyond the artwork itself. Each person who acquires a piece may share the general location of their piece (city or state) by clicking the button below. These locations will be collected on the map, forming a web of interconnected lives, tracing the unseen relationships between those drawn to this work. Through this collective effort, NEAR:FAR becomes more than a representation of urban life—it becomes an interactive testament to the way we navigate presence and distance in our relationships.
